1000 ECHU's and counting...

GT Machining & Fabricating Ltd. reached a significant milestone recently with the manufacture of Enhanced Container Handling Unit (ECHU) #1000 for the US Army. Employees, their families and friends were invited to mark the occasion at an open house held September 26, 2010. Plant tours were held along with a BBQ and demonstration of the ECHU equipment.

Installation of the ECHU kits on the US Army fleet of HEMTT and PLS heavy trucks is proceeding at a rapid pace. Soldiers and install teams alike comment on the excellent workmanship, improved design and ease of use.

 

 


More Medium Container Handling Units (CHUs)....

GT Machining & Fabricating Ltd. has manufactured close to seventy (70) medium container handling units (CHUs) for the US Army FMTV truck program. GT has been manufacturing CHUs for this program since 2005. The original FMTV LHS variant manufactured by BAE received Materiel Release with the GT manufactured medium container handling unit. GT manufactured a further sixty (60) medium CHUs which are now in service on FMTV trucks.

With the recent change in FMTV truck manufacturers, recertification activities are now underway. GT has supplied four (4) more medium CHUss to Oshkosh Defense which are now in test.

 

 

 


Increased Capacity and Reinvestment

GT is committed to continuously improving our workplace, production processes and equipment...

In today's marketplace, it is critical to be as efficient and competitive as possible.  GT places great importance on continuously improving our workplace, production processes and equipment.   Most recently, the following investments have been made to increase capacity and efficiencies.

  • expansion of GT's Tire Mold Overhaul facility by 10,000 sq ft.
  • installation of weld fume and dust extraction system at Plant #3
  • purchase of new turning centre, Nakamura WT 250
  • upgrade to blast facility reclamation system
  • upgrade to paint processing system to increase capacity
  • purchase of two (2) new forktrucks (5,000lb and 8,000lb)
  • construction of new employee cafeteria (Plant 2)
